AK makes the cut!

Good afternoon, all,

For the second time in a week, the Gavelin' Eagles have made a splash on the national stage. Drum roll, please...

Aspyn Kaskalla just received word that she has been named to the National Speech and Debate Association's inaugural Student Leadership Council!!! 🦅🥳🦅

Aspyn will serve with 23 other students from across the country (and even one international representative!) to meet regularly over the course of the next school year and help determine the future of speech and debate. 🤩

This group was whittled down from about 70 finalists, which in turn was whittled down from over 100 initial nominees, which in turn was whittled down from likely over a thousand applicants. In other words, it's quite an achievement! And yet Aspyn's passion for and devotion to speech and debate in just this first year, as well as her vision for how these events can be improved, make her 100% deserving of this honor. So glad the selection committee agrees!

Congrats, Aspyn! We are proud of ya!
